PNR stands for Passenger Name Record. We often need to check PNR status of our tickets be it of flights or railways. Though, in case of flights, we usually get confirm tickets, while in case of rail, we may get a waiting or RAC ticket. So by checking pnr status online, we can find whether our ticket has gone to confirm status or it is still in waiting status. Checking pnr status is very helpful in case of eticket booked online as Indian Railways do not permit you to travel via trains without a confirmed eticket. This means that you can travel via an e-ticket which have been in waiting status. Hence, you need to check pnr status of your not confirmed etickets before traveling.
How to check pnr status online
There are several ways to check pnr status be it online or via sms or via call. Here is the way to do it online :
- GO to this link i.e. open this website given below in your browser.
- http://indianrail.gov.in/pnr_Enq.html
- Enter your pnr in the given box. Your pnr number contains two sets of digits, Enter the 1st three numbers in one box and the rest in the adjoining box.
- Click on Get status button. The screen will present you the current status of your ticket. It’ll also display whether the chart has been prepared or not.
